WHAT HAPPENED
We beat Wolves 4-2 at London Colney in the Premier League Under-18 Cup, thanks to four first-half goals from Kwame Ampadu’s side, who were boosted by the return of Under-17 World Cup winner Emile Smith Rowe.
We began the game in quick fashion, Bukayo Sake threading Fol Balogun through on goal to score with just two minutes on the clock.
A few minutes later we doubled our lead, when Tyreece John-Jules met Smith Rowe’s cross to sweep the ball into the back of the net.
John-Jules stretched our lead to three from the spot, after Saka had been hauled down by Brad Crabtree inside the penalty area.
Shortly before the break Saka created yet another opportunity, this time teeing up Harry Clarke, who poked the ball in.
Moments later, Balogun almost made it five, cannoning the ball off the crossbar.
Following the interval Wolves struck back through Austin Samuels, who headed the ball past Joao Virginia, and Callum Thompson cut the deficit further with a goal shortly before full-time.
WHAT IT MEANS
We have climbed to top of the table, tied on three points with Manchester United, Stoke City and Wolves, but ahead on goal difference.
WHAT’S NEXT
Our under-18s host Norwich City in their next fixture, hoping to take their form back into the Under-18 Premier League.
