Folarin Balogun struck a six-minute hat-trick as an Arsenal XI held on to secure an impressive pre-season victory at the Hive.

After an even opening five minutes, Barnet should have been in front when Antonis Vasiliou’s low driven cross just evaded the onrushing Jack Barham at the back post.

Balogun then gave us the lead from the penalty spot in the 12th minute after Trae Coyle was brought down inside the box.

Balogun then doubled his tally almost immediately after latching on to a loose ball, cutting inside and curling into the far corner.

His hat-trick was complete when the youngster collected the ball with his back to goal, beat his man and slammed into the roof of the net from 20 yards, giving us a commanding lead at half-time.

The Bees pulled a goal back six minutes after the restart as Barham was fouled in the box and picked himself up to fire home.

We were let off the hook moments later as, substitute Tom Smith produced two fine reaction saves before Simeon Akinola skied an effort from close range.

The hosts thought they were right back in the match after Barham headed home - but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Barnet’s pressure paid off, though, as they grabbed a second when Charlee Adams drilled in a half volley from outside the box.

With two minutes to play, we came close to adding a fourth when Miguel Azeez broke through on the counter and saw his chip clip off the post and go wide.
