Kick It Out’s Raise Your Game Conference returned to Emirates Stadium for the sixth time recently to help break barriers for under-represented groups with aspirations to work in football.
Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham and Academy manager Per Mertesacker were invited as guest speakers to share their career journeys with around 300 young people, who also had the opportunity to network and attend one-to-one mentoring sessions with leading industry professionals from across the game, including Arsenal colleagues past and present.
Four Arsenal staff – membership product manager Joyce Havemeier, Academy sport scientist Nav Singh, Academy physiotherapist Zubair Haleem and media services engineer Damien Irving – all volunteered to mentor during the conference, and we caught up with them on the day to find out why they felt it was important to pass on their wisdom.
