Arsenal help Protect The Planet

Arsenal in the Community Protect The Planet

Participants from our Premier League Inspires and Kicks programmes represented Arsenal and put forward their ideas on living more sustainability at the Premier League Protect The Planet Celebration event recently.

Organised by the Premier League Charitable Fund Youth Voice Panel, the event at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium brought together more than 120 young people from 25 clubs across the football pyramid. Arsenal were represented by five students from Beacon High School in Islington along with Gloria (above), a member of our Premier League Kicks programme who also contributes to the Youth Voice panel, an initiative by the Premier League and the Premier League Charitable Fund aimed at amplifying youth perspectives in their projects.

The event included activities designed to foster learning and the exchange of ideas to promote sustainability. Attendees were given the platform to showcase their work in an exhibition-style format, and the students from Beacon High presented an innovative online game they had developed to promote recycling. They also demonstrated the impact of their football boot collection initiative, which donates boots to their own school and local charities.

Gloria took centre stage by helping to lead the event with her peers. “The youth are the people of the future,” she said. “They will be the ones who witness the consequences if the planet is not protected.

“Today’s event was very intriguing. I learned that a lot of clubs and young people care about protecting the planet and I learned about what they want do to help combat this issue,” she added.

“The best part was having everyone gather around with their projects and seeing what they were able to come up with. If we want to protect the planet, we should all consider taking a pledge and also becoming more aware of what we do and how it’s impacting society.”

Well done to the students at Beacon High School and Gloria for representing the club so brilliantly.
