Arsenal in the Community has published the results of a satisfaction survey for our contribution to the Islington Positive Futures programme, and the results have been overwhelmingly… well, positive.
Positive Futures is, in partnership with Islington Housing, a range of programmes that take place on local estates including youth engagement football sessions that offer additional activities such as trips, workshops, homework clubs and volunteer placements.
The survey found that satisfaction remained at 100 per cent of estate-based sessions.
•96% of older youths and 100% of parents/carers stated that attendance at the sessions helped them or their children to feel connected to their local community.
•96% of older and 93% younger participants felt safe during activities.
•100% of older youths felt that they had improved their skills or learned new skills.
•100% of parents felt that activities were well organised.
•A high percentage of all participants stated that they (or their children) would like to take part in future.
•Parents/carers and participants felt that sessions were not long enough, and they would like them to be longer.
The survey involved three separate groups: 7-10 years (younger participants), 11-17 years (older youth participants) and parents/carers. Questions were set to enable benchmarking against similar surveys carried out since 2014. As a result of the pandemic there was no survey in 2021.
The survey results are published in the Arsenal in the Community Islington Positive Futures Impact Report 2021/22. The study reports on the resumption of our community projects since the lifting of Covid restrictions, and in many cases the demand for and uptake of our projects has exceeded the level of demand from before the pandemic. You can find out more about these projects, which cover social inclusion, education and employment, football development, health and wellbeing, and Arsenal for Everyone on our “What we do” page here.
