Sky Sports highlight our sustainability drive

Arsenal Green Football Weekend

Sky Sports were on hand at our last home game against Liverpool to report on the club’s efforts for Green Football Weekend.

Reporter David Garrido looked at elements of our sustainability offering, including highlighting our matchday food bank – which was helped out by a donation from Liverpool FC, who have been providing a similar service at their home fixtures for five years.

Garrido also highlighted the enhanced vegan and vegetarian menu on offer at our last match, including Raymond Blanc’s vegan menu in the sumptuous surroundings of the Diamond Club.

And our new aluminium cups – all 12,000 of them – were discussed too. These cups are infinitely recyclable and were created through a partnership between the club and Ball Corporation.

On our club media, Breakdown Live welcomed former favourite Mathieu Flamini, who has become heavily involved in sustainability, partly because of the successful biochemical company he founded but also due to his upbringing, as he explained to Nicole Holliday.

“I am one of the ambassadors and very pleased to be at the match today,” he said. “Football has been a big passion all my life, but so too has sustainability. I grew up by the sea [in Corsica] and my father was a diver. I remember collecting all the plastic on the beach and being very much aware of the impact humankind has on nature.

“Football is one of the biggest industries that can unite people behind a cause like this.”
