WHAT HAPPENED

We made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League Cup on Friday afternoon, as we beat Burnley 3-1 away from home.

Mehmet Ali's side were hoping to get back to winning ways after their midweek defeat in Ipswich Town in the Papa Johns Trophy and got off to the perfect start inside seven minutes.

We took the lead through a moment of magic from Joel Ideho, the Dutchman cutting inside from the left and firing into the bottom corner from outside the box to score his second goal of the season in the Premier League Cup.

We continued our early dominance against an experienced Burnley side and doubled our advantage just 10 minutes later, Mauro Bandeira registering his first goal at this level, converting from the spot after good work from the returning George Lewis to win the penalty.

Burnley began to mount significant pressure on our backline as the half drew to a close, with James Hillson forced into several important saves, before a goal-line block from Josh Robinson denied the hosts a certain goal minutes before the break.

Michael Mellon pulled one back for the hosts 10 minutes after the restart, the forward prodding the ball beyond Hillson at the near post, despite Elian Quesada-Thorn's best efforts to clear it off the line.

We responded emphatically just minutes later, Ideho completing his brace at the end of another solo run and firing across Denis Franchi to ensure we left Burnley with our second win in the Premier League Cup group stage.

WHAT IT MEANS

We remain top of Group G in the Premier League Cup with two wins from as many matches played.

WHAT'S NEXT

We return to Premier League 2 action on Saturday, October 1, when we travel to Liverpool.
