Tom Fitchie

Tom Fitchie enjoyed two separate spells with Arsenal between 1901 and 1909.

The inside forward remained an amateur for his whole career and as a result was on the books of more than one club at the same time.

Fitchie made his Arsenal debut in a 5-0 win over Gainsborough Trinity in February 1902, scoring twice.

But due to other commitments and his amateur status, the talented Scot was rarely able to fully commit to Arsenal and even appeared for rival teams.

Such was his ability that Fitchie, a commercial traveller, played four times for Scotland in the early 20th century.

He played 63 times and scored 30 goals, giving him an impressive goals-to-game ratio of almost one in two.

Fitchie also represented Tottenham, Fulham (twice), Queen's Park and Brighton.
