Scott - Carla has been superb for us

Alex Scott hailed Carla Humphrey’s attitude after Arsenal Ladies’ victory against Bristol Academy.

Humphrey opened the scoring on her Women’s Super League debut and Vicky Losada doubled the Gunners’ advantage as Pedro Martinez Losa’s side secured their first three points of the season.

It was the 18-year-old Humprey’s second goal in as many starts, having already netted in the 7-0 win at Millwall, and Scott is impressed with how she has performed.

“She’s been superb,” the England defender told Arsenal.com. “She was one of the best trainers in pre-season so she deserved to start and she got her reward with the goal.

“She’s a young player with a lot of talent and she’s got the right attitude. She always wants to improve, do well and listen to senior players, the manager and that’s what you want from young players coming through."

Scott was also pleased with how Arsenal responded to a disappointing FA Cup quarter-final against Chelsea on Sunday.

“We just wanted to regroup as a team,” she said. “We’ve had a few meetings about starting the game well and it’s going to be a long campaign. We need to pull together as a team and I think the win against Bristol was a real team effort.”
