A statement 3-1 win over Manchester United and a sold-out Emirates Stadium made it a very good Saturday for Lotte Wubben-Moy and Laia Codina.
"It's all well and good looking at today and saying 'Oh this just happened overnight.' But yeah, the reality is, it takes a village," said Wubben-Moy, beaming as she looked out over the crowd. "We've had miles and miles of work put in by the backroom staff, the players and the fans most importantly.
"We look at today and I think it's been a long time coming. Now I think we can build on this, not only for performances, but also for attendances. We're Arsenal and we set the tone, on and off the pitch.
"We wouldn't be here without the fans. That's first and foremost, that's our foundation as a club. Today, we put on a show for them and they more than deserve it. So credit to them, because they're the ones carrying us across the line, week in, week out."
For Laia Codina, who earned her first WSL start since October against United, it was a dream to get that Emirates Stadium debut.
"I was looking forward to playing this game. I think that was one of the best stadiums I have ever played at! It's amazing but most of all for the fans: they liked the game and you feel it when they are there behind you always."
Despite resolute defending throughout to keep the visitors at bay and a solid victory, both centre-backs were disappointed to concede a consolation goal in the depths of stoppage time.
"The objective was to keep going, to continue," said Codina. "We enjoyed the game, we enjoyed defending our goal, so it's very disappointing about the clean sheet."
"We're gutted about the clean sheet!" added Wubben-Moy. "But we'll go to the next one."
