Takehiro Tomiyasu started for Japan as they beat Oman 1-0 in their World Cup qualifier. Our defender helped his side keep their second clean sheet in as many matches during the international break.
Martin Odegaard played the full match as Norway lost 2-0 to Netherlands in their World Cup qualifier. Norway’s defeat means they failed to qualify for next year’s World Cup.
Nuno Tavares played 72 minutes as Portugal Under-21s beat Cyprus 6-0 in their European Under-21 Championship qualifier. Portugal's clean sheet was their second of the international break, with Nuno starting both matches.
Folarin Balogun started for England Under-21s as they lost 3-2 to Georgia in their European Under-21 Championship qualifier. Our young striker had to be substituted with an injury after 36 minutes of the defeat.
Nicolas Pepe was a 69th minute substitute as Ivory Coast lost 1-0 to Cameroon in their World Cup qualifier. The defeat for Ivory Coast means they failed to qualify for next year’s World Cup.
