Wild flower meadows added at London Colney

Wild flower meadows at London Colney

With such a huge decline in wild flower meadows across the country, our head gardener at the training ground, Mike Bath has decided to take matters into his own hands and create magnificent meadows up at London Colney.

Not only do flowers provide beautiful and colourful surroundings for the Arsenal teams to enjoy, in between hard training sessions, they also provide much-needed habitat for bees and other pollinators. Bees are recognised as being hugely beneficial to the countryside, for without them plants would be unable to pollinate, a vital part in the lifecycle of plants.

The eye-catching Arsenal red poppies certainly show nature in all its glory.

Remember we can all grow flowers for our vital buzzing friends, regardless of how much space you have. A window box or a little patch in the garden – or even a whole football pitch if you have one – can be used and you know the bees will be delighted to visit and help use the pollen to make honey, as well as bring new flower life.
