Gilberto Silva is the latest Arsenal legend to be a special guest at Rwanda’s annual baby mountain gorilla naming ceremony, Kwita Izina, one of the country’s biggest events of the year and a world-renowned celebration of conservation.
Gilberto named his gorilla ‘Impanda’, which means trumpet in Kinyarwanda, Rwanda’s local language. His name was chosen as a call to action to remind us to play our part in the protection and restoration of biodiversity.
Before the ceremony, Gilberto got to experience a gorilla trek with his son in Volcanoes National Park, seeing the Kwitonda family, which is made up of 14 gorillas and one silverback, and you can see his Kwita Izina experience via the two-part series below:
