Aaron Ramsdale was called upon in the second half with a brilliant finger-tip save to deny the hosts and alongside a Player of the Match performance from Takehiro Tomiyasu, the clean sheet was assured.
The match also saw Emile Smith Rowe return to the starting XI and fellow Hale End graduate Charles Sagoe Jr made his senior debut for Mikel Arteta's side.
