U21s preview: Blackburn Rovers v Arsenal

jhf

Our Gunners are gearing up to reclaim their winning momentum as they set their sights on Ewood Park for a showdown against Blackburn Rovers in our penultimate regular-season fixture of the Premier League 2 on Monday, April 22. Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm (UK).

Currently occupying the sixth spot in the league standings, we've garnered 32 points from 18 games. We trail just one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea and we have a crucial game in hand over the Blues.

In our recent outing, a disappointing 5-3 defeat unfolded against Aston Villa at Meadow Park. Despite an own goal and a brace from Ethan Nwaneri, victory eluded us. However, our journey to the north-west presents a prime opportunity to regain our stride and hit peak form ahead of the Premier League 2 play-offs.

A look at Blackburn

The hosts currently hold the 12th spot in the league standings, having amassed 26 points from 18 matches. Despite their mid-table positioning, Rovers are in the midst of an impressive three-game winning streak. In their recent victories over Everton, Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest they have netted nine goals.

At the forefront of Blackburn's charge is midfielder Zak Gilsenan, who has proven to be a potent attacking threat with seven goals and two assists in just nine league appearances this season.
