U18s preview: Arsenal v Leicester City

Wilshere

Jack Wilshere’s under-18s are hoping to get back to winning ways this weekend as we host Leicester City at London Colney in the U18 Premier League South.

The game is an 11.30am kick-off on Saturday.

Our U18 PL season so far

It’s been a mixed bag of results for our young Gunners so far this season. We’ve won two, drawn two and lost two, scoring 13 goals and conceding 10 in the process. We’re seventh in the league ahead of the weekend - see the full league table.

Chido Obi is our top scorer with three goals following his hat-trick in our previous home game, a 4-0 win against Southampton. He’s followed by Osman Kamara and Seb Ferdinand, who both have two goals to their name.

Chido Obi

Our top appearance makers this season are all defenders - Michal Rosiak, Maldini Kacurri, Josh Nichols and Ayden Heaven - who have all played six games.

As for Leicester…

The Foxes are one place and two points below us, but have a game in hand. They have won one, drawn three and lost one, scoring 11 and conceding 11.

Kirsten Otchere is their top scorer with three goals.

Leicester are looking for their first win since the opening game of the season, when they beat Norwich City 2-1 away from home. Last weekend, they were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Aston Villa.

Last time we met

We came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Leicester City Training Ground on April 18. Logan Briggs gave the Foxes an early lead, which Amani Richards, previously a member of our academy, doubled just beyond the half-hour. But whatever Wilshere said at half-time worked a treat.

Seb Ferdinand pulled one back in the 50th minute before Michal Rosiak scored our equaliser in the 54th.

Our last home game against the Foxes was a 2-1 loss on March 28. Bradley Ibrahim scored from the spot to give us the lead in the 57th minute, before a late Amani Richards brace turned the game on its head.

Last season, Leicester finished one point and two places above us in the league.

How to follow

We will be providing updates throughout the game on our Arsenal Academy Twitter page, and there will be a match report published on Arsenal.com after the final whistle. We will also be sharing post-match interviews with Jack Wilshere and one of his young Gunners.
