Interview

Timber feels blessed to finally be back

Jurrien Timber expressed his joy at making his comeback from injury for our under-21s during our 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Monday night.

The Dutch defender, sidelined since August due to an ACL injury, wasted no time making an impact, opening the scoring with a spectacular strike.

Reflecting on his return, Jurrien remarked: “It’s been eight months, it’s been a long time and it's hard to put into words how I feel. Just being out there feels amazing, and even now it feels strange. But I feel happy and blessed to be out there and it’s nice to score a goal as well.”

Even scoring seemed like a distant memory to Jurrien. “Honestly, even that felt strange. I didn’t quite register it at first, probably because I don’t score a lot of goals. Maybe that's changed after all the rehab,” he joked. “But it felt amazing and a reward to the hard work of the past eight months.”

Looking ahead, Jurrien expressed eagerness to rejoin the first team for the remaining matches of the season. “I can’t wait, the season is almost finished, we’ve got a few more games left and I hope to be a part of the team for the final few matches. The lads have already been texting me, so it’s going to be fun.”

Assessing the team's performance this season, Jurrien shared, “Overall, I think we've performed well. The last couple of weeks have been tough, but, we are still in the mix and have every chance to win it. I’m glad that I can finally be part of it. Let’s see what the next couple of weeks bring, I hope it’s something beautiful.”
