Team news: Jesus returns to face former club

Team news to face City

Gabriel Jesus is back in the starting XI for our trip to the Etihad Stadium, in our only change to the side that beat FC Porto in a dramatic penalty shootout 19 days ago.

The Brazilian faces his former side, and could well start on the left with Leandro Trossard dropping down to the bench.

Otherwise the team is unchanged from our last game, 19 days ago. That means that Bukayo Saka, who missed England’s two games in the international break, is fit to start. As is Brazilian defender Gabriel, who was also unavailable for international duty. His compatriot Gabriel Martinelli returns to the squad after missing our last two games with injury. He is among the substitutes.

Jorginho keeps his place in midfield for the fifth match running, along with Declan Rice and skipper Martin Odegaard.

David Raya is in goal, with Ben White, William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior continuing in defence.

Manchester City’s last match was the FA Cup quarter-final win over Newcastle United, but their last league action was the 1-1 draw away to Liverpool, and Pep Guardiola makes four Changes to that side.

Stefan Ortega is in goal for the injured Ederson, while John Stones and Kyle Walker both miss out after sustaining injuries while with England. Stones is on the bench though.

Mateo Kovacic comes in for Julian Alvarez.

Arsenal: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior, Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Jesus, Havertz. Subs: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Zinchenko, Partey, Vieira, Smith Rowe, Martinelli, Trossard, Nketiah.

Manchester City: Ortega, Dias, Gvardiol, Ake, Akanji, Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne, Foden, Kovacic, Haaland. Subs: Carson, Stones, Gomez, Grealish, Lewis, Alvarez, Matheus Nunes, Bobb, Doku.
