Emile Smith Rowe has been included in England’s 23-man squad for the upcoming U21 European Championships, which are taking place in Romania and Georgia this month.
Our midfielder has been part of a training camp that has been assembled at St George’s Park over the past couple of weeks, and included a behind-closed-doors friendly against Japan which saw the visitors triumph 2-0 when Emile played an hour.
He has done enough to impress boss Lee Carsley to earn his spot in the final Euros squad for a second time in his career, having made two appearances in the 2021 edition. The 22-year-old also played five times during the qualifying campaign, scoring against Andorra and the Czech Republic.
England have been drawn in a group alongside the Czechs again, and will face them in their opening game on June 22. They then face Israel three days later, before rounding off the group stage against Germany on June 28.
Emile is the only member of the squad who has full international experience, having won three caps under Gareth Southgate. He was also a member of the victorious U17 World Cup squad back in 2017.
