Should Maitland-Niles have been sent off?

The big talking point from Sunday’s defeat at Leicester was Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ red card.

Our right back received an early booking for a barge and a second yellow card for a late challenge on James Maddison.

 

What did Unai Emery make of those decisions? Here’s what he said after the game:

“The first [yellow card] is not [a yellow card], for me,” said our head coach. “I don't agree with this decision for the first yellow card. It conditioned [the game] a lot.

 

“I think that maybe the first yellow card was not one. It was the seventh minute in the game. This one [the second yellow card], I don’t know but I respect the referee.”
