William Saliba urged our players and supporters to stick together after we exited the FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool at Emirates Stadium.
A 2-0 defeat against the Reds saw us knocked out of the competition at the first hurdle despite a strong display that saw us hit the woodwork and test Alisson in the opposition goal multiple times before we conceded twice in the latter stages.
And the Frenchman, who will be part of the travelling party heading to Dubai for some warm-weather training next week, believes that if everyone continues pulling in the same direction, we’ll be able to reverse our fortunes once the fixtures get back up and running in a couple of weeks’ time with the visit of Crystal Palace.
Reflecting on the game, he said: “I’m really disappointed because we started the game so well. We had too many chances to score, but we didn’t. Even in the second half, we were good, unfortunately we conceded one free-kick 10 minutes before the [end of the] game.
“We have to kill the game off before, because when we have so many chances like this, we have to score. We have to defend free-kicks better, we cannot concede them like this, so we can be really disappointed today.
“We have to stick together. We know we’re not in our best moment, but we won’t give up and we’ll come back even stronger.
“We will work a lot during this break, we will breathe a little bit. We will stick together and come back stronger, and better.”
