Saka stars in England v Germany thriller

Bukayo Saka’s introduction from the bench helped England rally from two goals down to claim a 3-3 draw with Germany at Wembley in their final game before November’s World Cup.

The attacker was introduced from the bench on 66 minutes and instantly saw his side fall two goals behind when Kai Havertz added to Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty, but after Luke Shaw pulled one back for the hosts, Saka’s through-ball allowed Mason Mount to draw the Three Lions level.

Further strikes from Harry Kane and Havertz again completed a sequence of five goals in 20 minutes, and Saka nearly won it in the last seconds when he embarked on a powerful run from halfway before forcing Marc-Andre ter Stegen into a fingertip stop to keep the scores level.

That was Saka’s 20th cap since being handed his debut just under two years ago, while Aaron Ramsdale is waiting to add to his collection of three after remaining on the bench for this game, as well as Friday night’s loss to Italy.

Meanwhile, Karl Hein helped Estonia complete their Nations League campaign with four wins from four after winning 4-0 away from home in San Marino.

Hein’s side had already secured qualification to League C last week after beating Malta, but ended the group in style with our young goalkeeper keeping his second clean sheet in the four group games.

At youth level, Amario Cozier-Duberry got on the scoresheet to help England under-18s beat Belgium 2-1 in Pinatar in Spain, to ensure they made it three wins from three and claim the Costa Calida Supercup. 

After the Young Lions fell behind via a Josh Feeney own goal, Cozier-Duberry restored parity just three minutes later with a nice finish from a tight angle, before Dominic Ballard grabbed a winner.

Cozier-Duberry played all-but the final minute of the contest, while Lino Sousa featured for the opening 45 minutes as he also finished the competition as part of the victorious squad.
