Aaron Ramsdale has caught up with his good friend David Brooks ahead of our game against AFC Bournemouth this weekend.
Teammates at Sheffield United during their youth careers and at the beginning of their senior careers, Aaron and David got together over video call to chat about their football memories.
“We both found ourselves there trying to re-light our careers and we ended up living together,” David explained.
The pair remember Aaron’s reaction in the dressing room after a 3-0 under-18s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
The duo were reunited at Bournemouth in 2018, where Aaron was able to provide a good reference for David to Eddie Howe, who was the manager at the time.
“I’m still waiting of the gaffer to give me my compensation,” Aaron joked.
David was cleared of cancer in May, 2022, having been diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma less than a year before. He returned to league football in March 2023.
“He’s fought that battle now and he’s back doing what he loves. Hopefully he can carry on believing in himself because he’s a great player,” Aaron said.
