Pre-Match Report

Preview: Arsenal Women v Spurs Women

Conti Cup preview

We’re back in FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup action for our first women’s north London derby of the season.

It’s a 7pm kick-off at Meadow Park on Wednesday in our third game of the group stages.

We have both won two out of two in Group D so far and are joint at the top on points, but Spurs have a better goal difference.

Last time around

Last time we met was for a 5-1 win at Brisbane Road, but our previous home game against Tottenham was a 4-0 win at Emirates Stadium early on in the 2022/23 campaign.

Goals from Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema saw us going into the half-time break with a two-goal lead, before second half strikes from Rafaelle and Miedema wrapped up a convincing victory.

Mixed fortunes

Vilahamn

After an impressive start to the season under new head coach Robert Vilahamn, when Spurs won four out of their first five games in all competitions, our north London rivals have now won just one of their last six.

That was a 3-0 win at home to Bristol City in the group stages of the Conti Cup, in which Spurs had also put six past Reading without reply in October.

Last weekend was a disappointing one at Brisbane Road, despite the return of captain Bethany England from injury, as Spurs lost 4-0 at home to Manchester United.

Team news

Jonas Beth

There are no fresh injury concerns for us to report following the weekend's 4-1 win against Chelsea.

On Kim Little's fitness, Jonas said: “Kim has had a scan and that has confirmed that it’s not a serious issue. We’ll see how she progresses this week and make a decision."

Facts and stats

Spurs Women

We have won nine out of our 11 meetings with Spurs, drawing the other two.

Last season’s fixtures against Spurs were our best so far as we scored nine goals overall and conceded just one.

In April 2022, then BK Hacken boss Robert Vilahamn visited London Colney to watch one of Jonas' training sessions.
