Thomas Partey playing for Ghana against Nigeria

Thomas Partey is heading to the World Cup in Qatar this month after being selected in Ghana’s 26-man squad for the competition.

The midfielder will represent his nation on the global stage for the first time after the Black Stars missed out on Russia 2018,

Thomas has won 40 caps for his nation, scoring 13 times since making his debut in 2016. He has also been crowned Ghana’s Player of the Year on two occasions, back in 2018 and 2019.

In what will be their fourth appearance at a World Cup, Ghana warm up for the tournament with a friendly against Switzerland in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, November 17 which could see our midfield duo of Thomas and Granit Xhaka go head-to-head.

Things then heat up with their opening group game against Portugal a week later. They then face South Korea on Monday, 28 November before going up against Uruguay on Friday, December 2 - the side that controversially knocked them out of the 2010 World Cup at the quarter-final stage, which represents Ghana’s best result at a tournament.
