Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly heading to U17s Euros

Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly

Ethan Nwaneri and Lewis Myles-Skelly have been selected for England’s upcoming European U17 Championships campaign.

Our academy duo are regulars for the Young Lions, with Ethan instrumental in their qualification for the finals in Hungary by netting six goals in six games, while Myles also featured in every match and found the net once.

The 16-team finals will take place between May 17 and June 2, with England starting their campaign against Croatia on May 18, and then facing the Netherlands three days later.

They round off the group stage against Switzerland on May 24 when they will hope to book a spot in the top two of the group, securing progress to the quarter-finals as well as a spot in the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup in Peru towards the end of the year.

England are two-time winners of the annual tournament, and we had representatives in the victorious squads on both occasions. In 2010, then-Gunner Benik Afobe lifted the trophy, while four years later Tarafi Moore earned a winners medal and was named in the Team of the Tournament.
