'North London is red! Always red'

Vivianne Miedema

No other WSL player has scored more goals against Tottenham Hotspur than Vivianne Miedema - and she scored two more on Saturday!

The Netherlands international has now scored eight in total against our north London rivals, and we caught up with her after the game.

on how much she enjoyed the game...

I mean, it was obviously unreal with all the fans here in the stadium, 53,000 I think it was. That’s the games you want to play in and that’s the games you want to win, and obviously that is against Tottenham with all the extra Arsenal fans. We just need to prepare now for Wednesday, but this one felt really good!

on whether the crowd makes a difference…

To be fair, you just feel like you’re playing a game and that’s amazing. I think you all get a bit of extra energy from it and I think you could see that today as well in all the girls. It just a lot quicker and a lot more comfortable that we expected it to be, but we’re just really happy that we won and hope that everyone keeps coming back to our games here.

on scoring twice today and her performances so far this season…

I mean, you know what teams are going to do and even today I was man marked for like 60 minutes of the game and I just need to be patient. I need to make space for the girls around me because we’ve got enough quality to pick that up and I know that I’m going to get my moment and I’m happy that today I was able to get two of those moments. I just need to keep doing what I’m doing and my role is obviously a bit different, so it might not be just goalscoring, but I’m happy that I got a couple goals today.

on whether we’re still finding our rhythm in attack…

I think we’re still waiting to see what our best options are together as well. I think Beth has had a great summer and today she obviously scored again so that’s helpful, then you’ve got Caitlin and you just know what you’re going to get. She’s really clever, she works really hard and then you’ve got Stina and Lina coming on from the bench and I think that shows that we’ve got quality up front, which is amazing to have.

on what colour north London is…

It’s red, always red! What a stupid question!
