Nketiah among Gunners in Three Lions squad

Eddie Nketiah celebrates scoring for England under-21s

Eddie Nketiah has received his first call-up to the England national team for the upcoming international break.

With two goals in our opening three games, and having won the penalty that Martin Odegaard scored against Crystal Palace, Eddie is in fine form at the start of the 2023/24 campaign. He will now get the chance to make the step up to the full international scene, having already become the under-21s' all-time record scorer with 16 goals coming in 17 caps at that level.

Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka have also all been named in Gareth Southgate’s squad, who travel to Wroclaw in Poland to face Ukraine in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying on Saturday, 9 September.

The Three Lions are currently top of the group with 12 points from four games, while Ukraine are second with six from three. The game kicks off at 5pm in the UK.

That’s followed by a trip to Hampden Park to take on Scotland in a 150th anniversary friendly on Tuesday, 12 September. The match will begin at 7.45pm.

The oldest rivalry in world football began when the two sides first met in 1872 - the match recognised by FIFA as football’s first-ever international match.

Supporters can watch the action from both games live on Channel 4.
