Arsene Wenger says his side summoned the spirit of Munich in beating Fenerbahce on Wednesday night.
Last season, the Gunners were heavily criticised before the second leg of their last-16 clash against Bayern at the Allianz Arena.
They went on to beat the eventual European champions 2-0, and Wenger saw parallels in Arsenal’s performance in Istanbul.
“The situation was heated over there,” the boss told Arsenal Player. “We responded well - we had the kind of attitude we had at Bayern Munich.
“Instead of waiting on what happens, we went into the match just to grab the game and get the result we want.
“Even at 1-0, we were not just waiting. At 2-0, we were still going forward and even at 3-0 we were still going forward in the last minute. I like that that kind of attitude.
“Our team play was very good as well. We were mobile, sharp and we played the kind of football we want to play.
“If you look at what this team has done since March, they deserve a lot of praise. A bad accident happened to us on Saturday. We ignored that and responded in a positive way.”
