Chuba Akpom played the final 15 minutes of Brentford's convincing victory at home to Bristol City. The striker replaced Marcelo Trotta, who had earlier extended the home side's lead. An Aden Flint own goal was cancelled out by Karleigh Osborne's drive but further goals from Alan Judge and Trotta kept the hosts at the top of League One.

Ignasi Miquel was not involved as Leicester secured a club record eighth successive victory away at Birmingham City. A goal in each half courtesy of Lloyd Dyer and Jamie Vardy set the league leaders on their way before home striker Peter Lovenkrands ensured a tense finish with a late consolation. Nigel Pearson's side are eight points clear at the top of the Championship.

Damian Martinez watched on from the bench in Sheffield Wednesday's 1-1 draw at the New Den. Giles Coke gave the visitors the lead before DJ Campbell levelled matters on his Millwall debut. Coke was then sent off along with Shane Lowry in the closing stages but neither side could fashion a winner.
