Arsene Wenger admits last season’s FA Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers still sits uncomfortably with him.
Colin Kazim-Richards' second-half goal at Emirates Stadium last February ended any realistic hopes of a trophy for Arsenal.
"We have to make sure we absolutely put the effort in to have the chance to go through"
The Gunners face Spurs on Saturday in the third round of this year's competition and Wenger underlined his desire to lift the trophy again.
"I had the luck to win four FA Cups, that means I always put the effort in," Wenger said. "I'm very keen to do it again, it's a long time now.
"Honestly I still have in my mind the fact that we went out last year at home against Blackburn, that was not good enough for us and we have to make sure we absolutely put the effort in to have the chance to go through.
"It's an opportunity that we want to take. On top of that, afterwards we have nine days until the next Premier League game [so] we can give absolutely everything in this game."
