Arsenal Ladies captain Alex Scott and club legend Kelly Smith have been honoured this week for their contribution to the women's game.
Alex was awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, in recognition of her "outstanding contribution to Women's Football".
Alex, who first joined us aged eight, has helped the club to many honours through the years – including a domestic and European quadruple in 2007.
Away from the pitch, she has been a long-time supporter of the game at grassroots level. Alex travelled to Iraq in 2016 to inspire young girls to play football as part of a project run by The Arsenal Foundation and Save the Children for displaced children, forced to flee their homes by war.
Kelly, who announced her retirement from football at the start of this year after a stellar career that spanned two decades was awarded the PFA Special Achievement Award. Kelly is England Women’s all-time leading scorer with 46 strikes in 117 appearances.
Congratulations to Alex and Kelly.
