We have been shortlisted in two categories at the 2017 Sports Technology Awards - for Best App and Most Innovative Engagement Campaign.
The Junior Gunners app was launched last August as we became the first Premier League club to launch a fully interactive children’s app.
In addition to the popular 'Pocket Player' game, it contains a range of fun and educational games. Young fans can create an Arsenal avatar and play Squad Boss, where they manage their very own six-a-aside team.
Most Innovative Engagement Campaign
Our ‘Starring the Fans’ campaign revolved around four of club’s new additions - Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi, Lucas and Granit Xhaka.
Instead of announcing the signings in the traditional way, we used social media and fan interaction to reveal them. The Mustafi announcement, for example, was made on Twitter, with a short video from the man himself responding to a supporter doubting that he would sign for the club.
This all links back to how we are looking to bring fans closer to the club and the players.
