Fellow striker Claudiu Keseru briefly played alongside Giroud in France back in 2009 - and now the Romania international looks set to come up against the Gunners forward in the Champions League.
"I have not seen that much of him since I left Tours,” the France striker said. "We played together for Tours in the French second division, with Laurent Koscielny as well.
"He was a very good player with a very good left foot. He was good technically with an amazing complicity on the pitch."
Keseru has been prolific since signing for Ludogorets in 2015, but was only a substitute in the meeting with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium two weeks ago.
"He’s a good player, but a good guy as well," Giroud added, "and I was very pleased to see him doing well for Romania in the European Championship, and it was a very nice time for us.
"Now I will play against him in the Champions League and I’m very happy for him."
