Eddie Nketiah scored twice to help Arsenal Under-19s win their first Uefa Youth League match of the season on Wednesday afternoon.
After the match, the forward spoke to Arsenal Player. Here’s what he said:
on a strange game…
Yeah it was quite difficult to start with. They were quite disciplined, had a lot of people behind the ball, but I thought the boys did well. We were patient, kept it moving and as the game went on, we got chances and thankfully took them.
on keeping your cool…
You have to not get frustrated, even if you do get the ball. Eventually you’ll get your chance and you just need to have the mentality to score it.
on only 1-0 at half-time…
We had a lot of possession so it was a bit disappointing not to create more chances. The coach kept us happy and made sure we were up and running the for the second half.
on the importance of a win…
That’s a good start. We go away with confidence for the second leg to go and get another three points and go from there.
on his goals…
It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet. I just need to keep working hard, getting good opportunities and hopefully continue the good form.
on playing Ludogorets away…
Probably they’ll be even more defensive so we just need to stick to our game and try to break them down again.
