Jack Wilshere came on in the 66th minute of England’s 1-0 friendly win against Portugal. Bruno Alves was given a straight red card for a wild challenge on Harry Kane in the 36th minute, but despite efforts from the striker and Kyle Walker, the first half finished goalless. Wilshere had a part to play in England’s late winner, passing the ball to Raheem Sterling, whose inviting cross was headed in by Chris Smalling. Arsene Wenger watched from the stands at Wembley, as Roy Hodgson’s side secured their third straight friendly victory ahead of this month’s European Championship.
Wilshere had previously started in warm-up friendly wins against Turkey and Australia.
