Calum Chambers says Per Mertesacker has had a “massive influence” on his career.
The England international has featured 23 times in his second season at the club, and scored against Burnley in the FA Cup.
"His preparation for training and games. Everything he does is so detailed. That would be the biggest thing to take away from him"
Chambers is hoping he can help Arsenal beat Sunderland on Sunday, and says Mertesacker’s attention to detail has had a profound effect on him.
“Per Mertesacker has been a big influence on me,” he said. “Since I have come here, he has almost taken me under his wing. In a friendly way, he is always getting on my case.
“If I’m two minutes late to something, he is already there and having a go at me. He keeps me on my toes. He gives me advice and he is always there for me to talk to. He has been massive.
“He is a top, top professional so I will learn as much as I can off him. I think the one thing I will take away from him would be hisattention to detail.
