Josephine Henning says her experience of different cultures and philosophies can help Arsenal Ladies qualify for the Champions League.
The Germany defender won three Champions League titles during spells with FFC Turbine Potsdam and Wolfsburg, in addition to four Bundesliga trophies and the DFB Pokal.
Henning also helped Paris-Saint Germain reach last season’s Champions League final, and the 26-year-old hopes her experience can help Arsenal return to European football.
"I don’t feel like a star or anything, I just feel like I’ve been welcomed into the family and that feels good"
“Winning titles always looks good,” she said. “I think that I can bring some experience into the team because I did not only win things with one club, I played for different clubs like Wolfsburg and PSG.
“I hope I can bring the experience from the different teams, different strategies, different cultures, and I’ve played with some really good players. I’ve learnt from everyone so maybe I can add something to a great team.
“This was a good opportunity for me and when I really think about it, it wasn’t a tough decision because they made it very easy for me. They are so professional. I was overwhelmed by the welcome I received. It’s a professional club and they want to act to improve themselves.
"They to make sure that in every quarter, from the players to the facilities, everything is improving. I don’t feel like a star or anything, I just feel like I’ve been welcomed into the family and that feels good.
"They missed out on the Champions League in the last couple of seasons and I think that’s definitely one goal for this season. For me it’s to get into the team, to get to know the team better and to get to know how Arsenal play. Then hopefully I can win the league with this fantastic team.”
