Dedicated matchday raises £250,250

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Arsenal employees and the Arsenal squad, our match dedicated to the Arsenal Foundation against Manchester City before Christmas raised £250,250.

The manager and players donated a day’s wages to the Foundation for a ninth consecutive year and contributions from fans and Arsenal staff were also instrumental.

The funds will help the Gunners continue to support a range of education and sport projects which use the Arsenal name to transform the lives of young people in the UK and overseas.

"We all love Arsenal and we are very proud to have that power of influencing people’s lives in a positive way"

In 2015, The Arsenal Foundation – working with its global partner Save the Children – funded and constructed two football pitches in refugee camps in Iraq for displaced Iraqis. This year the club hopes to visit the camp with coaches and visit the space which gives children a safe place to play.

The Arsenal Foundation will also continue its relationship with Bob Wilson’s charity, Willow, which organises special days for young adults with serious illnesses.

Through the Gunners Fund, the Arsenal Foundation will make more grants totalling £50,000 to a range of local projects in north London and beyond.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: “We all love Arsenal and we are very proud to have that power of influencing people’s lives in a positive way. For me and for all the players, staff and everybody involved at Arsenal, the charity matchday is always a special day. We are very happy to help.”
