Steve Gatting believes Mikel Arteta is the perfect example to the club's rising stars to learn from.
The Arsenal captain made his first appearance since November during the under-21s’ 3-2 victory against Blackburn Rovers at London Colney on Tuesday.
Gatting was impressed by both Arteta's performance and the attacking football his side played.
“Obviously it helps with Mikel playing with his experience,” he told Arsenal Player. “We started off well and passed the ball ever so well - for the first hour I thought we were excellent.
“Mikel was talking the lads through the game. He is very experienced on the ball and knows when to pass it and where to pass it. He is always available for the ball and hardly every gives it away.
“As I have said many times, if you play well and do the right things, more times than not the result will look after itself. Our aim in every game is to give a good performance and keep improving.”
