Mesut Ozil believes Alexis Sanchez’s ambition has helped him succeed in the Premier League.
The Chile forward had a sensational debut season for Arsenal, scoring 25 goals in 52 games, including a stunning strike against Aston Villa to help the Gunners lift a record 12th FA Cup.
Alexis was named Arsenal’s Vitality Player of the Season on Wednesday and Ozil revealed why he feels the 26-year-old has adapted to life in north London so quickly.
"He’s scored a lot of goals for us this season, so I take my hat off to him"
“He’s the type of player who is very ambitious, who always wants to win and that takes him forward,” the World Cup winner told Arsenal.com.
“You can see in training that he wants to score lots of goals and in matches he has lots of efforts on goal too. This year things have worked really well for him.
“He’s scored a lot of goals - and some very important ones - for the team and we’re pleased to have him in our side.”
In addition to his goals, Alexis has also become a fan favourite at Emirates Stadium due to his tireless workrate, and Ozil has been impressed by the Chilean’s all-round game.
“His particular strengths are one on ones,” the Germany midfielder said. “He’s agile, quick and dangerous in front of goal. He’s scored a lot of goals for us this season, so I take my hat off to him.”
