International Watch: Youngsters on duty

Tolaji Bola and Reiss Nelson both started England Under-16s’ 4-1 win against Mexico, while Charlie Gilmour was an unused substitute.

After going behind to an early own goal, Martell Taylor-Crossdale equalised before Mason Mount struck a brace and Keanan Bennetts added a fourth as Steve Cooper’s side won their Montaigu Tournament opener.

Carl Jenkinson played the full 90 minutes and claimed two assists, while Calum Chambers and Serge Gnabry both came off the bench in England Under-21s’ 3-2 win against Germany.

Philipp Hoffman gave the visitors the lead but Jesse Lingard latched on to Jenkinson’s cross to equalise. Hoffman then restored Germany’s advantage but Nathan Redmond levelled again before Jenkinson picked out James Ward-Prowse for an 82nd-minute winner.

Hector Bellerin made his Spain Under-21 debut and played the full 90 minutes as Albert Celades’ side beat Belarus 4-0. Semen Shestilovsky turned into his own net before Gerard Deulofeu, Munir El Haddadi and Moi Gomez secured the win for Spain.

Chuba Akpom was a 79th-minute substitute in England Under-20s' 2-1 win against USA. John Swift opened the scoring and Kwame Thomas added a second, before Maki Tall pulled one back at the end of the game for the Americans.

Glen Kamara played 85 minutes of Finland Under-21s’ 4-1 win in Luxembourg. Vashid Hambo and Dani Hatakka gave Finland a two-goal lead before Ricardo Pinto pulled one back, but Joel Mero and Moshtagh Yaghoubi scored in the second half to secure the victory.

Calum Chambers played 61 minutes and claimed an assist in England Under-21s’ 1–0 win at Czech Republic before being replaced by Carl Jenkinson. The defender collected Nathan Redmond’s pass and crossed for Tom Carroll to poke home from close range.

Serge Gnabry was a second-half substitute in Germany Under-21s’ 2-2 draw against Italy. Marcello Trotta gave the visitors the lead before Leonardo Bittencourt equalised after half-time. Simone Verdi then restored Italy’s lead but Moritz Leitner levelled from the penalty spot with five minutes left.

Hector Bellerin was an unused substitute in Spain Under-21s’ 2-0 win against Norway. Munir El Haddadi opened the scoring before Gerard Deulofeu secured the win just two minutes later.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles played the final nine minutes of England Under-18s’ 1-0 win against Switzerland at St George’s Park. Newcastle United’s Adam Armstrong scored a 48th-minute winner to give England the advantage ahead of Saturday’s rematch.

Chris Willock was a 60th-minute substitute in England Under-17s’ 2-1 win against Romania. Ike Ugbo struck twice to ensure the under-17s finished their European qualifying fixtures with a 100 per cent record.

Krystian Bielik played the full 90 minutes of Poland Under-17s’ 1-0 win against Ireland. Pawel Kaczmarczyk scored the only goal of the game after 10 minutes to give the hosts the victory.
