Ozil is Vitality Player of the Month

Mesut Ozil claimed more than a third of the votes

Mesut Ozil has been named the Vitality Player of the Month for the first time this season.

The World Cup winner was in fantastic form throughout February as he scored twice and claimed three assists on his way to polling just over a third of the votes cast.

After a majestic assist for Olivier Giroud's opening goal against Aston Villa, Ozil doubled the lead after the break with a calm finish. The 26-year-old was also on target in the north London derby, before creating goals for both Laurent Koscielny and Theo Walcott against Leicester City.

Giroud, who scored four times in February, finished in second place with Santi Cazorla - winner of the previous two awards - in third.
