Arsene Wenger has handed Gabriel his Arsenal debut for Sunday’s FA Cup fifth-round clash against Middlesbrough.
The Brazilian centre back joined the club from Villarreal in January, and has been an unused substitute three times so far.
He is one of seven changes to the side, with Wojciech Szczesny replacing David Ospina, Calum Chambers in for Hector Ballerin and Kieran Gibbs at left back for Nacho Monreal.
In midfield, Mathieu Flamini replaces Francis Coquelin, Danny Welbeck returns in place of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud spearheads the attack.
