Kieran Gibbs and Oliver Giroud spoke to the media after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Middlesbrough in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Read what they had to say below:
Gibbs
on controlling Middlesbrough…
They’re still a very good team, they’re well organised with good balance and we knew we had to be strong from the start and I felt we dominated possession. We’ve got players who could make the difference and it was a good team performance.
on going all the way in the FA Cup…
We know what this competition is like, you’ve seen teams that can cause upsets and we can’t take these teams for granted. We’re hungry to retain our trophy and we’ve got a good squad - we’re happy to continue our run.
Giroud
on his second goal…
I knew that Alexis would take the corner kick very quickly and I took advantage on my defender and it managed to go in.
on not getting his hat-trick…
I have been waiting for a hat-trick for over two years now and but the boss decided to take me off. I’m pleased we won and I had two fantastic assists from Alexis and Gibbs. We kept another clean sheet and we carry on in our good run and we want to keep that going.
