Wenger - Draw would do for City

Arsene Wenger says a draw between Chelsea and Manchester City on Saturday would be an ‘acceptable result’ for Manuel Pellegrini’s side - and Arsenal.

The champions are currently second in the Premier League, five points behind Chelsea and eight ahead of the Gunners.

However, Wenger believes Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Etihad Stadium has given his side the boost they needed to close the gap on the top two.

"When two other big teams play each other you always want a draw. Most of the time you get it!"

“It helps,” Wenger said. “It helped of course because we were questioned about that as we could not do it last season in the Premier League. To get that weight off the shoulders helps.

“When two [other] big teams play each other you always want a draw. Most of the time you get it! It could be a draw, a draw would be an acceptable result for Man City because it would not kick them out of the race for the title.

“There is still a long way to go with [them] five points behind - they are not out of it. With eight it would be much more difficult.”
