Kelly Smith helped launch Inspiring Women in Sport on Tuesday, a volunteer campaign designed to encourage schoolgirls to pursue careers in sport.
Backed by official club partner BT Sport, the campaign will call upon females working in the sports sector to pledge one hour a year to talk with girls in state schools nationally about forging a career in the industry.
The Arsenal Ladies captain was joined at the launch by BT broadcaster Clare Balding, world 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu, Minister for Sport Helen Grant and 30 schoolgirls from Queensmead School. The group held a one-hour career speed networking session.
More career speed networking sessions will take place across the country - including a showcase event at London Aquatics Centre on February 25 - during Inspiring Women in Sport Week - February 23 to March 1 2015.
