Alex Scott says it is “fantastic” to have Lianne Sanderson back after the striker re-signed for Arsenal Ladies last week.
The two England internationals progressed through the Gunners’ youth ranks together and went on to win the quadruple in the 2006/07 season before each had spells in America.
Now reunited, Scott believes Sanderson’s return could help bring the glory days back to Meadow Park under new manager Pedro Martinez Losa.
"She will bring goals and good build-up play. She’s a creative player who makes things happen"
“It’s fantastic to have Lianne back,” the captain told Arsenal.com. “We want all the quality players coming to Arsenal and Lianne is definitely a player of quality. She grew up at the club like I did so it’s always good to welcome back homegrown talent.
“I don’t think I even needed to encourage her to come back! Lianne’s a strong character so she’s always going to make her own decisions. We’ve always been close, coming through the youth ranks at Arsenal, so I’m just pleased she decided to return.
“She will bring goals and good build-up play. She’s a creative player who makes things happen. We need that, so next season should be an interesting one.”
