Loan Watch: Afobe strikes twice

Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2014/15 campaign now underway, nine Gunners are currently away from the club

Benik Afobe scored a brace and got an assist as MK Dons beat Port Vale 4-3 in the FA Cup first round. Ben Williamson opened the scoring but Afobe and Carl Baker struck to put the visitors ahead. Dany N’Guessan equalised but Afobe restored the lead from the penalty spot before setting up Danny Green for the Dons’ fourth. N’Guessan grabbed a second with five minutes left but the visitors held out to secure their place in the next round.

Carl Jenkinson played the full 90 minutes of West Ham United’s goalless draw with Aston Villa. The point sees the Hammers keep their place in the top four of the Premier League, ahead of Swansea City on goal difference.

Jon Toral played 76 minutes of Brentford’s 3-2 win at Millwall. Andre Gray struck either side of half-time to give the visitors the lead but Lee Gregory and Alan Dunne scored within a minute of each other to level. However, Brentford took all three points when Danny Shittu turned into his own net five minutes later.

Kris Olsson played 79 minutes of Midtjylland’s 2-1 win at Silkeborg. Petter Andersson and Pione Sisto struck for the visitors before Nicolaj Agger scored a consolation in the final minute.
