Aaron Ramsey says his brace against Sunderland last season gave him the confidence to produce his best performances in an Arsenal shirt.
Ramsey scored 16 goals in total during a pivotal campaign, including the FA Cup final winner, and was voted Player of the Season by Gunners fans.
Now the 23-year-old is returning to the venue that saw him spark his fine form and he expects a similarly tough test this time around.
"The couple that I scored just set me up and I felt really comfortable in front of goal"
“I’ve always been in the positions but those two goals, and the couple that I scored in the Champions League early [in the season], just set me up and I felt really comfortable in front of goal,” Ramsey told Arsenal Player.
“[The volley for my first goal] was a nice, sweet shot where I hit the ball really cleanly and thankfully it went in. It could have been the start of my good form.
“I’ve scored there a couple of times in the past but hopefully we can go there and win another game, and get back to winning ways in the league.
“I’m sure Sunderland’s manager and fans will be asking for a reaction [to their 8-0 defeat at Southampton] and we’ll be expecting a tough game.
"After losing by the margin they did the other day, they’re all going to be up for it and hopefully we can manage that and get on top early on to make them anxious and come away with a win.”
